Fulton County Breaks Ground for Renovation of Youth-focused Health Facility | Print |

Commissioner Joan P. Garner, District 6, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Fulton County Health Services will hold a ground breaking ceremony Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00am at 2805 Metropolitan Parkway, SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. Oak Hill Child, Adolescent and Family Center which focuses on reducing health disparities among children and youth by emphasizing health, prevention and wellness, early childhood development, nutrition, learning, fitness, and youth employment.  Reducing the negative impact of childhood asthma and childhood obesity will also be emphasized in the programming planned for this campus.

The Fulton County Marshal’s Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session April 17, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.  The session will be conducted in the Fulton County Justice Center Building, Courtroom 1A, located at 185 Central Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.

On April 16th, 2012, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) will begin examining all aspects of the Fulton County Marshal’s Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services. This process is taking place so that the Fulton County Marshal’s Department will receive its reaccreditation.

24-hour facility offers life skills training and educational help to assist homeless mothers in gaining and maintaining stable employment

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners, County Manager Zachary Williams and Fulton County Housing and Human Services Department staff officially opened the Springdale Place Comprehensive Services Center for Homeless Women with Children today, February 28, 2012.  Springdale Place does not fit the traditional description of a homeless shelter.  The County is working with other community partners to provide education and life skills programs to help homeless mothers to reach housing stability and self-sufficiency.
