Today, at its regular meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted to oppose House Bills 170, 171, and 172 which propose changes to the County’s homestead exemption, millage rate, governance structure, and employees’ classification status.

Fulton County Health Services Issues Warning About New Strain of Norovirus | Print |

Over the last few weeks the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness has investigated several outbreaks of gastrointestinal disease associated with food service establishments. For some of these events the department has documented that a new strain of norovirus that is spreading widely throughout the United States was the cause and that the virus had infected food service workers. These circumstances prompt the Department of Health and Wellness to issue advice on steps everyone, particularly food service establishments, can take to avoid this common and unpleasant gastrointestinal illness.

Fulton Opens One-of-a-Kind Facility for Youth | Print |

You have to see it to believe it!  The newly renovated Oak Hill Child, Adolescent and Family Center, located at 2805 Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta, officially re-opens Thursday, February 7th with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am. The center sits on a 22-acre campus and will provide coordinated care to children and their families from all over Fulton County.

Fulton Board Adopts 2013 Budget with No Tax Increase | Print |

At its January 23, 2013 meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners adopted a 2013 General Fund budget totaling $571,813,239.  The budget includes $8.7 million in reductions compared to the 2012 actual expenditures and includes continued funding for Grady Hospital.

Fulton BOC Award Lifeline Animal Project Contract to Provide Animal Services for Fulton County | Print |

On January 23, 2013, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved to award Lifeline Animal Project the contract to provide animal services to Fulton County’s residents.  Lifeline will take over providing services upon the termination of the contract with the current vendor, The Barking Hound Foundation.  The Foundation currently has a month-to-month contract to provide the services. 

Fulton Animal Services and the Georgia Department of Agriculture Rescue 14 Horses from Local Horse Farm | Print |

Fulton County Animal Services in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Agriculture impounded 14 horses today from the Heritage Farms Horse Farm located in South Fulton County on Butner Road.

Animal Services issued 14 citations to the operator of the horse farm citing cruelty to animals.  The horses suffered from infections, malnutrition and a variety of other illnesses due to neglect.
