Hundreds Participate in Adamsville Workforce Development Job Fair | Print |

The Fulton County Workforce Development Office hosted over 500 job seekers during a four hour job fair at the office located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta.  Employers who participated reported receiving applications from at least 100 qualified applicants for available positions.  Applicants who were not qualified for available positions will receive services to help them to identify positions appropriate for their skills and resources for upgrading their skills to meet employer needs.

The Wolf Creek Amphitheater and J.D. Entertainment, LLC presents the 2012 Gospel Explosion.   This concert features gospel powerhouses such as: Pastor Shirley Caesar, Dottie Peoples, The Canton Spirituals, Keith “Wonder Boy” Johnson and Gospel Comedian of the Year, Sistah Willie Ruth Johnson. The 2012 Gospel Explosion Concert will be held on Saturday, October 6, at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater located at 3025 Merk Road, Atlanta, GA 30349. The concert starts at 6:00 p.m. and gates open as early as 4:00 p.m.

The night is expected to be filled with spiritual music that will leave concert goers uplifted and inspired.    Tickets for the concert went on sale August 15, 2012 and are still available at all Ticketmaster Outlets and Ticketmaster.com. Fulton County Housing Information Session to Address Tenant Rights and Responsibilities | Print |

The Fulton County Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Housing and Community Development will host another information workshop on Tenant Rights and Responsibilities on Thursday September 27, 2012.  The session is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the West End Branch Library located at 525 Peeples Street SW in Atlanta, Ga.

Fulton County Arts and Culture

The Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture Abernathy Arts Center in partnership with the Hispanic- American Visual Artists Project presents HISPANOAMERICANOS, Traveling Souls. The curated show exhibits works from member artists from countries including: Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, El Salvador, Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Cuba. The exhibit is an exchange of information and demonstrates “Cultural Networking” through art. The project will tour the state of Georgia after the exhibit closes.

Sprite Sparks Parks Grant Helps Fulton County's Burdett Park Get Back In The Game | Print |

Beginning this fall, local teens will be able to express their most dynamic basketball moves on a refurbished local court. Burdett Park recently received a $15,000 grant based on votes it earned through the national Sprite Spark Parks Project initiative, which refreshes courts in public parks and recreation centers throughout the country.

Voting in the Sprite Spark Parks Project, a joint program from Sprite and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), took place between March 28 and May 31 on SpriteSparkParks.com. Thanks to the more than 76,000 votes it received, Burdett Park, which is located at 2945 Burdett Road, College Park, GA 30349, has been awarded one of the coveted grants.

Flu Vaccinations Available at Fulton County Health Centers | Print |

Flu season is around the corner.   Fulton County Health Services encourages everyone to get vaccinated, especially children.   The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that getting vaccinated is the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. While there are many different flu viruses, the flu vaccine protects against the three main flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season.   The Fulton Department of Health and Wellness is providing flu shots at seven centers from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm.
