Fulton Board Approves 2012 Millage Rate – Most Taxpayers Will See Lower Bills | Print |


 Most Fulton County residents will see lower taxes on the Fulton County General Fund portion of their tax bills this year.  The Board of Commissioners voted without opposition to maintain its current millage rate of 10.281 mills for the General Fund. As a result, any homeowner whose property declined in value will see a lower bill, and any property whose value remained constant will stay the same.

Georgia Watermelon Queen to Visit Fulton County’s Riverside Farmer’s Market in Roswell | Print |

Fulton County Cooperative Extension invites everyone to celebrate Watermelon Day on July 21st

The Georgia Watermelon Queen will visit the Riverside Farmer’s Market on Saturday, July 21 from 8:00am – 12:00pm.  Her visit is part of her official duties to welcome summer and to educate the community about the nutritional and economical value of watermelons.  Fulton County Cooperative Extension operates the Riverside Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning in the parking lot of Roswell City Hall located at 38 Hill Street in Roswell, Georgia.

Fulton County Department of Water Resources To Host Smart Irrigation Workshops | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Water Resources invites all residents to attend an upcoming workshop regarding smart irrigation.     Participants will learn how to correctly use and maintain their irrigation system. A certified irrigation specialist will be on site to answer questions.

The Fulton County Cooperative Extension Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market Program will be highlighted on July 10 at the CREATE Awards Breakfast sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for its collaborative efforts to address the issue of “food deserts.”  The Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market program will receive an honorable mention for its innovative methods of involving community organizations, academia and government to serve underserved communities identified as food deserts by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Wolf Creek Amphitheater Hosts The Summer Nights Jazz Festival on August 4th | Print |

The Summer Nights Jazz Festival is an incredible celebration of music featuring renowned jazz figures Jonathan Butler, Michael Franks, Rachelle Ferrell, Warren Hill, Maysa Leak, and new comer Jimmy B. (featuring Andre Grant). This inaugural event will take place on the grounds of the Wolf Creek Amphitheater on August 4, 2012 at 7:00pm.

The Summer Nights Jazz Festival will bring forth jazz enthusiasts to engage with the music and nature underneath the stars in the picturesque outdoor setting of the Wolf Creek Amphitheater. The show line up reflects the diversity of the jazz genre with a phenomenal range of artists and musicians who are both exceptional performers and dedicated to their craft.

Fulton County’s Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Aging is opening Cooling Centers on Friday, June 29, 2012 to seniors in need of a cooler environment to ensure their health and safety during days when temperatures are expected to rise as high as 100 degrees or more.

Fulton County Police Department Hosts National Night Out 2012 | Print |

The Fulton County Police Department, in partnership with Fulton County agencies and local neighborhoods are joining forces with thousands of communities across the nation for the 29th “Annual National Night Out” (NNO) a crime and drug prevention event.  Fulton County residents are invited to join the Fulton County Police Department at their “National Night Out” event Tuesday, August 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., at 5495 Old National Highway, College Park, GA 30349.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime awareness and support for crime and drug prevention efforts sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are working together and fighting back against crime.  Additionally, it strengthens neighborhoods and police and community partnerships.
