Fulton Voters Approve TSPLOST Referendum | Print |

During the November 8 General Election, 52.7% of voters supported the Fulton County Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). This referendum was a joint effort between Fulton County and 13 cities outside of Atlanta and will yield approximately $570 million in transportation investments between 2017 and 2022.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners and mayors of 13 cities met for more than a year and worked collaboratively to bring the TSPLOST referendum to voters.

Funds collected through TSPLOST will be divided among cities based on population. Each city selected a project list with citizen input and transportation planning. The Master List is available online with all identified projects.  All participating cities entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement.

"I am ecstatic," said ... said Chairman John H. Eaves. "We worked so hard for so long to get the 14 mayors of Fulton County to work together and agree to map out the future of transportation in Fulton County. Thank you to the voters for saying 'yes.' This is a game changer and will begin to end our traffic nightmares."

Collection of the 0.75¢ sales tax will begin in April 2017. Funds will be distributed by the Georgia Department of Revenue to the cities.

Voters also approved the Atlanta TSPLOST (0.4¢) and an additional 0.5¢ MARTA sales tax within the city of Atlanta.
