Fulton County sets animal welfare hearing board for Wednesday, May 29, 2019 | Print |

ATLANTA – Fulton County's animal welfare hearing board will convene Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency offices located at 130 Peachtree St. S.W.

The animal welfare hearing board consists of seven members appointed by the board of commissioners, and its authority includes:

  • Studying animal-related issues, including but not limited to identifying ways to reduce animal overpopulation, encourage animal adoptions, improve public relations, improve animal safety and comfort, and make recommendations to the board of commissioners regarding those issues;
  • Reviewing and make recommendations to the board of commissioners regarding ordinances relating to the control and welfare of animals in Fulton County;
  • Submitting reports to the board of commissioners at the direction of the board of commissioners;
  • Facilitating regular quarterly meetings between and among Fulton County citizens, animal advocacy groups and organizations;
  • Securing grant funding in cooperation with Fulton County Animal Control, animal advocacy groups and government agencies; and
  • Performing other duties as prescribed by the board of commissioners.
